Music. We all love music.

So, this post isn’t meant to be deep or declare how profound music is in my life. It is simply a condensed list of artists and their albums that I currently listen to (or have listened to recently) when I design. And when I say design, I am including anything of the process – sketching, thinking, creating, word mapping, etc.

I usually tend to listen to music that is more atmospheric and moody, rather than great rock ballets with tons of vocals. I do have a special place in my heart for all of my favorite bands, but when it comes to design, I’m looking for something more specific, something more ethereal.

To keep it simple and to the point, music that lets me feel like I’m not in reality helps me to be creative, get into a deep focus, and to just flow.

The artists listed below are by name first, followed by a few of the albums that I enjoy. I strongly suggest you give each artist a real listen, if you are willing to hear unique sounds and rhythms. If you are a mainstream radio type…so sorry.

And now for ze music, in no particular order.

Chris Clark – Growls Garden, Totems Flare, and Body Riddle
Cliquety Kliqk – General Elektriks
Flying Lotus – Cosmogramma
And last but not least….the great Sigur Ros – all

What type of music do you listen to when you design?
